In two & a half weeks, Future Food Salon II will be here! I hope you might join us – for some talk, some art, some music, and something to amuse your palate. Free food for all – including cricket samples & regular, non-cricket hors d’oeuvres – and a chance to sample mead wine.
The lovely organizers invited fellow artist Han Zhang and me to create an installation for the event. Come check it out, let us know what you think:
天上掉馅饼 / Like Manna From Heaven is an art installation by Han Zhang and Helen Yung. Inspired by the Chinese expression 天上掉馅饼 (literally, pie from the sky, meaning “free and delicious food falling from heaven”), the installation invites viewers to contemplate gifts from above, and describe its taste and texture. Nature blesses us with so many “free and delicious” food alternatives. What does manna from the future taste like to you?
Cricket Reactor Inventor, Jakub Dzamba will be in attendance to talk about his award-winning “urban architecture for micro livestock.” More details available on the Culture of Cities website.
